An ephemeral orchestra is a short, structured session in which a whole group becomes a musical ensemble. Participants receive percussion instruments or simple parts, and a conductor explains how each section fits into the whole. Within two hours, most groups play a short piece in front of their colleagues, with the satisfaction of having made it together.
No prior experience is required and instruments are supplied. The format scales well for an evening or a plenary session, and the final performance can be recorded on request, subject to the rights attached to the music performed.
