Completed in 1875, the Palais Garnier is one of the great monuments of nineteenth-century Paris, and a working theatre of the Opéra national de Paris. The public visit covers the auditorium and the grand foyer. A backstage tour goes further, into the stage machinery, the workshops where sets and costumes are made, and the rehearsal rooms where dancers and singers prepare each production.
Access to the working areas is granted by the Opéra and depends entirely on its rehearsal and performance calendar. We submit the request with your group profile and preferred dates, and we confirm the route only once the theatre has agreed. Photography rules apply and are set by the house.
The tour pairs naturally with a performance in the evening, a champagne reception on the grand staircase or a private dinner in the surrounding district.

Can we go backstage during a performance?
No. Backstage visits take place outside performance and rehearsal times, and the theatre sets the windows. We will propose the slots the house makes available for your date.
Can we attend a performance as well?
Yes, subject to seat availability for the programme you choose. We can arrange tickets as part of the same itinerary, ideally booked at the time of the backstage request.
Do guides speak English?
Our guides can conduct the tour in English. Please let us know your preferred language when you brief us, as availability depends on the date.
