The Calanques form a national park between Marseille and Cassis, with white limestone cliffs, pine-covered slopes and small coves that are reached only by water or on foot. Seen from a kayak, the coast offers a perspective most visitors never see, and the activity is accessible to beginners with a guide.

Itineraries are chosen according to the group's level and the rules of the national park, which regulate access, mooring and activities, and may restrict some sites in the summer fire season. The guide briefs the group on paddling and safety, then leads the way along the coast with stops for swimming and photographs. The trip suits a team day in Marseille, a welcome activity for an incentive group or a contrast to a conference programme in the city.

Objectives

  • Show the Marseille coast from the sea, with its cliffs and coves
  • Offer a teamwork activity that suits beginners
  • Combine paddling with a swim and a lunch by the coast
  • Work within the rules of a national park

How it works

  1. 1We confirm the group size, the date and the level, then select an itinerary that respects the park's rules and the weather.
  2. 2Kayaks, life jackets and paddles are fitted at the departure point, with a short briefing on technique and safety.
  3. 3The guide leads the group along the coast, grouping paddlers by pace and making stops for swimming and photographs.
  4. 4The group returns to the departure point, and transfers take them to Marseille, Cassis or the next point of the programme.

Good to know

  • Access to the Calanques is regulated by the national park. Some sites are restricted or closed in summer for fire risk, and the itinerary is adjusted accordingly.
  • The sea can be windy in the afternoon, particularly in spring and autumn. Morning departures are generally more comfortable.
  • Participants should bring swimwear, a towel, sunscreen and a dry bag for personal items.
  • July and August are the busiest months, with heavy demand for departures and parking. Early booking is recommended.

Indicative budget

Indicative, from around €80 per person excluding VAT for a guided half-day kayak trip with equipment. Transfers, lunch and private departures are quoted separately, and the price may vary with group size and itinerary.

Frequently asked questions

Is the trip suitable for beginners?

Yes. Participants are briefed before departure, and the guide keeps the group together and chooses calmer sections when needed.

Can we swim during the trip?

Yes, at the stops the guide indicates, where conditions and park rules allow. Participants should be comfortable in open water.

What happens if the sea is rough?

The guide cancels or shortens the trip. An alternative is a walk on the Calanques trails or a visit to Cassis.
