Why choose Normandy

  • Proximity to Paris: 1 h 20 to Rouen and about 2 hours to Deauville by train, a short break for executive groups.
  • Deauville's Centre International (CID) can be configured for up to 1,497 seats and has a convention-hotel cluster nearby.
  • Belle Époque seaside towns, Deauville and Trouville, with racecourses, beaches and boardwalks.
  • Honfleur's harbour, Rouen's Gothic cathedral and the Étretat cliffs for cultural and photography days.
  • The Mont-Saint-Michel and the D-Day beaches, major sites for leadership and history-themed programmes.
  • Cider, calvados, Camembert and seafood, with farm and orchard visits.

Airport access

Normandy has no major hub airport: most groups arrive via Paris-Charles de Gaulle or Orly, then travel by train or coach. From Paris-Saint-Lazare, Rouen is reached in about 1 h 20, and Deauville-Trouville in about 2 h to 2 h 30 depending on the connection. By road, Deauville is about 2 h from Paris, Honfleur 2 h 15, Étretat roughly 2 h 30 and the Mont-Saint-Michel about 4 hours. Within the region, Deauville to Honfleur is 20 minutes and Rouen to Étretat about 1 h 10. Small regional airports (Deauville-Normandie, Caen-Carpiquet, Le Havre) serve limited flights.

MICE capacity

The Centre International de Deauville (CID) is the main convention venue, with modular halls configurable as 523, 847 or up to 1,497 seats according to its 2024 brochure, and a cluster of hotels around it. Deauville and Trouville also have seaside hotels with ballrooms and meeting rooms. Rouen provides city hotels and heritage venues; Honfleur and Étretat host smaller dinners and seminars. Large conventions above about 1,500 delegates are better placed in Paris, with Normandy as a post-event programme. Capacities are confirmed per project.

Seasonality

May to September is the main season, but the weather is changeable at any time, so indoor alternatives are always planned. July and August are busy on the coast; the Deauville American Film Festival in early September and the horse-sales and racing calendars in August and autumn tighten hotel availability. Spring and autumn are quiet and pleasant; winter is cool and windy, suited to small boards at lower rates. The Mont-Saint-Michel is crowded around midday in summer, and tides influence access to the bay.

Frequently asked questions

Is Normandy suitable for conventions?

Yes, up to about 1,500 delegates at the CID in Deauville, which has modular halls and nearby hotels. Larger conventions are better in Paris, with Normandy as an extension. Rouen also works for city-based meetings.

How long does it take to reach Deauville from Paris?

By road it takes about 2 hours, and by train from Paris-Saint-Lazare about 2 to 2 h 30 depending on connections. Coaches are the most practical for groups. Traffic on summer weekends can add time.

Can we visit the Mont-Saint-Michel in a day from Paris?

It is about four hours by road each way, so we recommend an overnight stay nearby or a stop on a longer programme. Tides and crowds influence timing. We plan private guides and entry slots.

What is the weather like and how do you plan for it?

Weather in Normandy is changeable all year, with sun, wind and showers on the same day. We plan indoor alternatives for every outdoor activity and advise participants on clothing. Late spring and early autumn offer the most stable conditions.

Can we organise a D-Day heritage programme for a corporate group?

Yes, with a historian-guide, visits of beaches, museums and cemeteries and a leadership or decision-making theme. The sites are about 1 h 30 to 2 hours from Deauville. We adapt the tone to the group and handle transport.

When is Deauville busiest for hotels?

Rates and demand rise in August with the racing and horse-sales calendar, around the American Film Festival in early September and on summer weekends. We recommend booking early for these dates. Midweek stays outside July–September are easier.
