Airport access

Marseille Provence airport (MRS), at Marignane, is about 25 to 30 minutes from central Marseille and 25 minutes from Aix-en-Provence. The TGV from Paris-Gare de Lyon reaches Marseille-Saint-Charles in about 3 h 05 to 3 h 20, Aix-en-Provence TGV in about 3 h and Avignon TGV in about 2 h 40. Marseille to Avignon by TGV takes roughly 35 minutes, and Marseille to Aix about 30 minutes by road or regional train. The Luberon villages and Arles are generally 1 to 1 h 15 from Marseille by road.

MICE capacity

Marseille Chanot has a Palais des Événements that can be configured for up to about 3,200 people, according to Meeting France, with halls for exhibitions. The Palais du Pharo has a 900-seat auditorium, per Marseille Tourisme, and a larger recent extension for commissions and a lower-level room for up to 1,000 seated. Aix-en-Provence has its own convention centre. Hotels in Marseille and Aix provide meeting rooms; bastides and wine estates host smaller groups and dinners. Exact capacities depend on layout and are confirmed per project.

Seasonality

April to June and September to October are the most comfortable periods, with mild weather and open-air dining. July and August are hot and busy, and outdoor activities should be planned early or late in the day. The lavender fields of the Plateau de Valensole and the Luberon bloom from late June to July. The mistral can blow strongly in winter and spring and affects outdoor events, so tented or indoor alternatives are planned. Winter is milder than in northern France but some country venues close from November to March.

Frequently asked questions

What congress venues does Marseille offer?

Marseille Chanot has a Palais des Événements that can host up to about 3,200 people, and the Palais du Pharo has a 900-seat auditorium overlooking the Old Port. Hotels add meeting rooms for smaller formats. We confirm current availability and layouts for each brief.

How long is the TGV from Paris to Provence?

Paris to Marseille takes about 3 hours, Aix-en-Provence TGV about 3 hours and Avignon TGV about 2 h 40. Timetables vary, so we check them when fixing the programme. Marseille to Avignon is around 35 minutes by TGV.

Can a group be split between Marseille and the Luberon?

Yes, a typical split is plenary days in Marseille or Aix and incentive days in the Luberon, about 1 to 1 h 15 by road. Coaches and luggage transfers are organised accordingly. This works well for groups of 40 to 200.

How does the mistral affect events?

The mistral is a strong, dry wind that can blow in winter and spring and make outdoor receptions uncomfortable. We plan sheltered or indoor alternatives and avoid exposed sites when forecasts are poor. In summer it tends to be less frequent.

Is lavender season a good time for an incentive?

The lavender fields bloom from late June to July, which makes the Luberon and Valensole attractive, but it is also busy and hot. Early morning visits and shaded dinners work best. September is a calmer alternative with the grape harvest.

Can we privatise a bastide or a wine estate?

Many bastides and estates around Aix and the Luberon host private groups, sometimes with accommodation, subject to availability and local rules. Capacities vary from about 30 to several hundred guests depending on the site. We shortlist options and handle contracts, catering and transport.
