Why choose Strasbourg & Alsace

  • A direct TGV Est link from Paris in about 1h46, with a station in the city centre.
  • A genuine European institutional setting: the European Parliament, the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights.
  • A congress centre with three auditoriums and a large adjoining exhibition park.
  • The Grande-Île, a UNESCO World Heritage historic centre, and the Neustadt quarter give very different backdrops for receptions.
  • The Alsace wine route, about 170 km long, with family estates and half-timbered villages within an hour of Strasbourg.
  • A distinctive regional cuisine and Franco-German heritage, appreciated by international groups.

Airport access

Strasbourg-Entzheim (SXB): the regional airport, about 20 minutes from the centre, with connections to Paris and several European hubs.

Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (BSL): about 1h30 by road from Strasbourg and close to Colmar; useful for groups arriving from further afield.

Paris by TGV Est: Paris Gare de l'Est to Strasbourg in about 1h46. The station is in the city centre, a short transfer from the congress district.

Within Alsace: regional trains reach Colmar from Strasbourg in about half an hour; the wine villages themselves are not served by rail, so we use coaches and minibuses.

MICE capacity

The Palais de la Musique et des Congrès, operated by GL events, has three auditoriums of roughly 1,800, 1,200 and 500 seats (figures differ slightly between sources) and around twenty committee rooms for 35 to 450 people, according to the city of Strasbourg. The adjoining Parc des Expositions adds exhibition halls for trade shows and large conventions. Both are in the Wacken district, close to the European institutions and to hotels.

Seminars of 50 to 300 people are well served by business and four-star hotels in the centre and around the station. For gala dinners, the city has historic venues and the surrounding vineyards offer privatisable estates; privatisation is confirmed case by case.

Seasonality

  • April to June: mild weather, flowering vineyards; a very good period for seminars and incentives.
  • July and August: warm and busy, with the wine villages at their liveliest.
  • September to mid-October: harvest season and the best light in the vineyards; the busiest period for tastings.
  • Late November to 24 December: the Strasbourg Christmas market draws very large crowds and hotel prices rise; book early or avoid for large groups.
  • January to March: quiet and affordable, suited to meetings and winter gastronomy.
  • Remember that European Parliament plenary weeks (Strasbourg sessions) can fill hotels sharply: check the calendar before fixing dates.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to reach Strasbourg from Paris?

The TGV Est takes about 1h46 from Paris Gare de l'Est to Strasbourg. The station is in the city centre, which makes day trips and short seminars practical. Strasbourg airport and Basel-Mulhouse are alternatives for international arrivals.

What is the largest room for a convention in Strasbourg?

The Palais de la Musique et des Congrès has an auditorium of roughly 1,800 seats, with a second of around 1,200 and a third of around 500. The adjoining Parc des Expositions allows larger formats. Exact capacities depend on the configuration and are confirmed with the venue.

Can we visit wine estates with a large group?

Yes, for groups of 20 to about 100 we arrange tastings in family estates, often with a lunch or dinner in the cellar. Larger groups are split into subgroups with rotating visits. Estates are booked in advance, especially at harvest time.

When is it best to avoid Strasbourg for a corporate event?

The Christmas market period, from late November to 24 December, and the European Parliament's plenary weeks put pressure on hotels and prices. We check the Parliament's calendar before proposing dates.

Is a combined Strasbourg and Colmar programme realistic?

Yes. Colmar is about half an hour from Strasbourg by regional train, and the wine route links the two. A typical programme bases the group in Strasbourg and organises a day on the wine route by coach, with a Colmar visit.

Can the programme be run in several languages?

Yes. Strasbourg is used to international audiences, and we provide guides and hosts in English, German and other languages on request. Simultaneous interpretation can be installed in the congress centre.
