The harvest is when Champagne is most visible. The vineyards of the Montagne de Reims and the Vallée de la Marne fill with pickers, and the grapes are pressed within hours. For corporate groups, a harvest day is a rare chance to work physically in a vineyard and to understand how a champagne estate depends on precise, collective timing.

Harvest dates depend on ripeness and vary from year to year. The programme is confirmed once the estate announces picking dates. Pickers work under the supervision of the estate's team, and secateurs, baskets and gloves are supplied.

Objectives

  • Experience a real working moment in the vineyard
  • Understand the teamwork behind a champagne estate
  • Share a physical challenge that is easy to do together
  • Close with a tasting that connects the work to the results

How it works

  1. 1Welcome at the estate and a briefing on picking methods and safety
  2. 2Picking in small teams along the rows, supervised by the estate's crew
  3. 3Transfer to the cellars for a visit of the pressing and ageing process
  4. 4Tasting, followed by lunch or an aperitif at the estate or in the village

Good to know

  • The harvest usually takes place from late August to early October; exact dates are confirmed close to the event
  • Picking involves walking on uneven ground for a few hours; comfortable clothes and closed shoes are essential
  • Alternative tasks are offered for participants with limited mobility
  • Tasting is responsible, with spittoons and water, and non-drinkers can join the cellar visit

Indicative budget

Indicatively from €130 to €180 per person excluding VAT, including picking, the cellar visit and tasting. Transfers from Reims or Épernay and lunch are priced separately.

Frequently asked questions

When does the harvest take place?

The harvest usually runs from late August to early October. Exact dates depend on the year's ripeness and are confirmed once the estates announce them.

Is a harvest day suitable for a senior team?

Yes, with adaptations. Picking tasks can be shared, and participants who prefer not to pick can join the cellar visit and tasting.
