The Périgord is one of the classic truffle regions of France, and the black truffle season runs through the winter months. Hunts are led by growers who work with dogs trained to find the truffle by scent, and they explain how the truffle grows under oak and hazel, why the dog is used rather than a pig, and how the harvest is handled. The walk through the woods is slow and suits most levels of fitness.
The hunt is usually followed by a lunch at the grower's farm or a nearby restaurant, where the truffle is used in a simple, seasonal menu. The day is organised as a single trip from Bordeaux by private coach, so the group travels together and does not need to drive.
The programme works for a client event in the winter months or for a team that values a tangible, outdoor experience with a French food story. Dates depend on the harvest, and a truffle hunt is never guaranteed on a fixed day.

Domande frequenti
When is the truffle season?
The black truffle season in the Périgord runs through the winter, with the most active period in the colder months. Hunts are arranged only when the harvest is underway, so we confirm the date with the grower before the group travels.
Can the group buy truffles at the farm?
Often yes, subject to the grower's stock on the day. Purchases are paid directly to the farm and are not included in the programme price.
Can the programme be held in another season?
Outside the truffle season, we can propose a farm and food programme with a demonstration of the Périgord's regional produce, such as walnuts, foie gras and local cheeses. The format is adapted to the season.
