Reims and neighbouring Épernay hold the chalk cellars that define champagne. Many houses have chalk galleries dug by hand over centuries, cool and quiet, where the wines age for years. A private visit takes your group down into this underground world, to understand the blending, the second fermentation in bottle and the long ageing that separate champagne from other sparkling wines.
Privatisation is arranged directly with the houses and depends on their calendar, especially during harvest and the busiest months. We select houses that accept private groups and propose a route that fits your numbers. The tasting is usually seated and led by a cellar guide or a sommelier, and can be paired with local dishes.
The visit fits naturally into a day in Champagne, with a stop in Épernay's Avenue de Champagne and an optional dinner in one of the region's restaurants.

- Cellar temperatures are cool and the galleries can be damp; warm, closed shoes and a light layer are advised.
- Tastings are for adults only. Please brief us on any dietary requirements or non-drinkers in advance.
- Harvest season and major holidays are the busiest periods; houses may limit private visits then.
- Transport from Paris to Reims is about 45 minutes by TGV, and we can arrange a private coach from the station.

Can we book a whole cellar for a private event?
Some houses can host a private reception in part of their premises, subject to availability and their own rules. We check each house individually and do not assume full privatisation.
Is the tasting suitable for a corporate audience?
Yes. The tasting can be adapted to a corporate setting, with a shorter format, a non-alcoholic option and a presentation suited to the group's level of wine knowledge.
How far in advance should we book?
We recommend at least three months for cellar visits, and more for the harvest or the end of the year. Larger groups need more lead time, as few houses host more than one group at a time.
